Duane F. Horak, 72, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, July 5, 2024, at his home in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating.  Family interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time the church.  There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:15 AM at the church.  Memorial are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran School.

Duane F. Horak was born November 15, 1951, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Leonard and Bernadine (Pavel) Horak.  He graduated from Columbus High School and on March 3, 1973, was united in marriage to Joyce Coffey at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Duane worked for Becton Dickinson in Columbus, retiring after 40 years.  On the side, Duane renovated rental homes, which he was very good at.  He had an impeccable yard, enjoyed going fishing, camping, and spending time at the lake.  Duane loved going to his grandchildren's events and had a special bond with Oliver, sharing the same birthday.

Brother-in-law - John (Sylvia) Coffey of Scottsbluff, NE
Sister-in-law – Janice Barnum of Colby, KS
Numerous nieces and nephews
