Donna Jean Dobberstein Anderson was called to her Heavenly Home on September 28, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 5, at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Cory Burma and Vicar Joel Ripke officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday, from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 AM on Thursday at the church. Following the funeral luncheon, interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery, Stromsburg, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Alzheimer's Association or to Peace Lutheran Church.

Donna was born on July 7th, 1944 to her parents Gary and Irene Dobberstein in Grand Island, Nebraska. At a young age, the Dobberstein family moved to York Nebraska. This is where Donna graduated from high school. She had an older brother Roger, two younger siblings Kathy and Richard, and a stillborn sister. On July 30th, 1944 Donna was baptized into God's family which was the beginning of her lifelong commitment to the church and her faith. She was later confirmed on May 25th, 1958.

Donna was 18 years old when she met the love of her life, Darwin Anderson. They dated for about a year and Donna accepted Darwin's marriage proposal on September 19th, 1964. They were married on May 2nd, 1965 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska and were married for 58 beautiful years. Donna and Darwin were blessed with two children: Kipton (1967) and Kimberly (1971). They grew up and started their own families which blessed Darwin and Donna with four grandchildren: Kyle (1999), Allison (2000), Katherine (2000), and Derek (2003).

In March of 2013, Donna was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. She lived at home with Darwin until 2018 when she was moved to Brookstone Acres, a local nursing home where she lived until she passed.

Donna was an incredible Wife; Mom; and "Nana", to her grandchildren. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but taking care of and supporting her family, being a part of Columbus Jazz Orchestra, being involved with Peace Lutheran Church, and running an in-home daycare were some of her most cherished vocations in life.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Gary (1997) and Irene (1999), her brother Roger (2017), and her stillborn sister (1949).

Donna is survived by her husband Darwin; her children Doctors Kip and his wife Deb of Columbus Nebraska, and Kim and her husband John of Clay Center Nebraska; her grandchildren Kyle, Allison, Katherine, Derek; her siblings Kathy and Richard; and many other beloved family and friends.
