Diane R. Sinclair was born on the family farm in rural Boyd County near Butte, Nebraska, to Raymond H. and Margaret A. (Schmitz) Honke on September 15, 1942. She was the third of seven children. Diane went to grade school at SS Peter and Paul Catholic School and to high school at Butte High graduating in 1959 where she was a cheerleader, played clarinet in the band and was also the majorette and even participated as a majorette in Omaha. After high school, Diane attended CE School of Commerce in Omaha for two years. On August 19th, 1961, she married the love of her life, Gary Sinclair at SS Peter and Paul Church in Butte. Four children were born to this union, Pam, Bruce, Debbie, and Brad.
Diane worked at the Boyd County Courthouse until 1967 when they moved to O'Neill, Nebraska. They moved to Columbus in 1973 where she managed the Central Community College bookstore for over 20 years, retiring in 1999. Gary passed away July 31, 2014.
Diane was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. She enjoyed travelling (her favorite trip was to Hawaii with Gary, her mother, and her sister Janet) and she travelled all over the US and some of the Caribbean, but mostly to Florida. Diane enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, and spending time with her kids, grand kids and great grandkids. She was an avid Husker football, volleyball and baseball fan and loved Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Lightning and NASCAR. Her favorite NASCAR event was the Daytona 500, going with Bruce, and seeing her favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson. However, her greatest love was attending her kids and grandkids football, baseball, dance, volleyball, and soccer events as well as weekly bowling and state bowling with Pam. She loved flying to Florida for the winter to Debbie's, to see Bruce, and spend time with the twins.
Diane was referred to as mom by all her kids' friends and everyone called her for advice or just to talk for hours. Her two older sisters referred to her as the leader of the Three Musketeers.
