Diane E. Krings, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away on January 12, 2024, at the Columbus Community Hospital. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 20, at 10:30 AM, at St. Bonaventure's Church in Columbus, with Fr. Jon Haschke celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a CDA Rosary at 6, all at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:30 AM until Mass time, also at the church. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Memorials are suggested to Project 2020 program.
Diane was born to Joseph and Eleanor (Mueck) Haschke on May 7, 1939, in Humphrey, Nebraska. She spent her childhood in the Humphrey area and graduated from St. Francis High School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for several companies in Humphrey and Columbus. Diane married Gerald (Jerry) Krings on August 30, 1958, at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. They spent their lives together running a farm operation in Platte, Boone, and Stanton counties. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, and quilting, was an avid reader, and an incredible woodworker and seamstress.
Over the years Diane was a 4-H leader, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, helped to coordinate adoration hours for St. Bonaventure Church and did work for local businesses as a seamstress. Diane and Jerry retired in 1995 to Columbus, staying active in both their community and with their extended families.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, her children: daughter, Julie (Norman) Bradshaw of Columbus and sons Ladd (Diane) Krings of Albion, Troy (Pam) Krings of Omaha, and Russ (Kerry) Krings of Platte Center. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her brothers Ivan (MaryAnne) Haschke of Humphrey, Neal (Mary) Haschke of Madison, and sisters Janice (Ralph) Kroenke of Omaha, and Joyce (Bob) Luetkenhaus of Lindsay.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Eleanor Haschke, her brother and sister-in-law Leon and Darlene Haschke, her sister and brother-in-law Lois and Jerry Micek, her son-in-law Charles Wemhoff, and grandson Matthew Wemhoff.
