Obituary

Diane M. Gilbert, 75, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, at 10:00 AM, at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating.  Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.  There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 AM on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude.

Diane was born on July 11th,1949, in Omaha, NE.  She was adopted "loved" by Annette (Janssen) and LaVern Mohlman and grew up in Columbus with her brother Carroll.  Diane was baptized and confirmed her Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, LCMS.  She graduated from Columbus High School in 1967.  Diane was united in marriage to James Gilbert on February 2nd, 1973, at St. John's Lutheran Church.  The couple were blessed with three children.  They made their home on a family farm south of Columbus.

Diane was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.  She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved watching Husker Volleyball and learning the many sports of her grandchildren.

Diane is survived by brothers: Carroll (VonDell) Mohlman and John Haussermann; daughter: Leslie (Brian) Stice, their children Cayden and Albert; daughter: Shawn (Matt) Thayer, their children Brandon and Haleigh; daughter: Kim Gilbert; son: Shannon (Amanda) Gilbert, their children Tyler Wessel-Gilbert, Baylee and Paysley.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents: Annette and LaVern Mohlman, husband: James Gilbert.
