David Anderson, 72, of Bellwood, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 12, at 10:30 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Ollie Fullmer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Friday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.

David Lynn Anderson was born on February 27, 1952, in the Lutheran hospital in Columbus to Glenn and Helen Rogene (Carlson) Anderson. He attended Third Ward grade school and graduated from Columbus High School in 1970. During high school, David worked at JC Penney to purchase a car and have gas money. Just before graduating, David was in an auto accident in which he suffered severe head injuries including an eye injury. It was shortly after this time that he met Toni Barcel who was working at Mr. Suds.  People knew that Dave had taken a liking to Toni when he started washing his 72 Cuda twice a day.  The two were united in marriage on October 26, 1974.

David attended Platte College and then began his career with the Nebraska Department of Roads, first as a surveyor and worked his way up over the years to project manager, retiring after 43 years after many big projects to his credit, such as the viaduct in Columbus on state highways 81 and 30 as well as many state roads and bridges in Platte County.

David enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He was an excellent cook who could make anything. He was a very good bowler and bowled several 300 games. He enjoyed his vehicles and even taught Toni how to do burnouts and drag race.
