Dave Casper, 69, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 2, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Kuensik Lee officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Friday, from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

David Randall Casper was born on March 29, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, to Kenneth and Carolyn (Fitzsimmons) Casper. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1972. On April 3, 1982, Dave was united in marriage to Sandra Hobbs at the Methodist Church in Albion, Nebraska.

Dave worked as a meat cutter at various jobs before going to work at Hy-Vee in 1985. He worked at Hy-Vee as a meat cutter and later as the deli manager, before retiring in 2015. He worked in lawn maintenance for the last eight years at Central Community College.

Dave loved sports, especially Nebraska and Kansas City Chiefs football. He enjoyed bowling, listening to all kinds of music, and decorating his house for all the different holidays. He loved being in his back yard and grilling for gatherings with family and friends.
