Obituary

Darlene Bachman, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Augusts 26 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating. Interment will be in the Creston Fairview Cemetery, Creston, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM. Memorials may be directed to the Creston Rescue Unit, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or the donor's choice.

Darlene was born March 21, 1932, in Oconee, Nebraska, to William and Grace (Donaldson) Will. She attended Platte County School District 25 and graduated from Monroe High School. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught school at District 72 for three years. Darlene was united in marriage to Stanley Bachman on December 23, 1951, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Columbus. They farmed in the Creston, Nebraska, area for over 60 years.

Darlene taught Sunday school for several years, was a member of the ladies quilting group at both St. Paul's and St. Peter's Lutheran Churches, was a member of the Creston Legion Auxiliary, and Harold's Squares Square Dance Club. She was an avid card player, enjoyed bowling and going to the Leigh Bowling Coffee Club, and attending and enjoying her sons' and grandsons' sporting events. Darlene loved all kinds of flowers and enjoyed gardening.

Daughter-in-law - Carol Bachman of Humphrey, NE

Sister – Helen Chohon of Columbus, NE
Sister – Ardith Pearson of Ankeny, IA
Brother – Arnold (Carol) Will of Bradshaw, NE
Sister-in-law – Clara Will of Norfolk, NE
Sister-in-law – Jean Will of Columbus, NE

Sisters – Minerva (Carl) Christensen and Gladys (David) Lloyd
Brothers – Loren Will and William Will, Jr.
Brothers-in-law – Elmer Chohon and Dwight Pearson
