Obituary

Dale Edward Malasek, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. Dale was born on November 25, 1943, in Leigh, Nebraska, where he and his sister Janelle were raised. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Irene Malasek. In 1968, Dale married Darlene Huenke, and together they raised two sons, Jeff and Mike. Dale was a proud grandfather to Brooke, Taylor, and Erik.

In 2004, Dale married Janice Schmitt. Dale and Jan shared a love of travel and enjoyed many adventures together around the world.

Dale had a remarkable 37-year career as a pilot with TWA, retiring as Captain on the DC-9. Beyond aviation, he had a lifelong passion for trial motorcycles. He dedicated much of his time to promoting the sport across the United States and, in later years, served as a distributor for GasGas. He also helped design, develop, and sell Dragonfly Electric Motorcycles.

Dale's enthusiasm, generosity, and adventurous spirit left a lasing impact on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Malasek (Peggy) and Mike Malasek (Rhonda); his sister, Janelle Groteluschen (Dave); his former wives, Darlene Huneke Malasek and Janice Schmitt Malasek; his grandchildren, Brooke Munger (Will), Taylor Hunt (Ethan) and Erik Malasek; and his close trials motorcycle family and community.
