Cressida "Crissy" Nielsen, 38, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her home in Columbus.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 16, at Gass Haney Funeral Home with Bishop Myron Powell, Pastor Phil Alley, and Pastor Timothy Daywitt officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:30 AM until service time. All attendees are encouraged to wear purple attire, as purple was Crissy's favorite color. Cressida Victoria Nielsen was born on September 26, 1984, in Toledo, Ohio, to Kyle and Rhonda (Terry) Nielsen. Her family moved to Nebraska when she was 3. Crissy attended school in Benedict and was a member of the last senior class of Benedict High School in 2002. She attended Central Community College and Bellevue University. For many years Crissy operated a daycare and became "Mama Crissy" to many children. Most recently, she worked for Columbus Public Schools as a para educator. Crissy loved to crochet and to read. She was a very outgoing person who made friends wherever she went and never knew a stranger.
