Obituary

Claud W. Lovitt, 77, of Monroe, Nebraska, died Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home in Monroe.

A celebration of life will take place in Lingle, Wyoming, at a later date.

Claud was born January 14th, 1945, in Electra, Texas, the youngest son of Daniel and Grace (Whitesell) Lovitt. He attended school in Lingle, Wyoming, to the 8th grade when he started helping on the farm. On January 13th, 1963, Claud was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Lou Kirlin in Torrington, Wyoming. To this union they had nine children.

On July 26th, 1963, Claud joined the United States Navy and was stationed at Port Hueneme in California. He was honorably discharged on July 25th, 1967.

Claud was a man of many talents including working as a police officer, working on oil rigs, driving a wrecker, working as a mechanic and tire service technician. He drove a mail truck from 1979 to 1987 in Wyoming. Claud worked for Smith Securities and Pinkerton Security, he was also a transport driver for new recruits to MEPS, lastly he was a Team Leader at Behlen Manufacturing for the tube mill.

Claud's passions were building dioramas, taking care of his lawn, listening to music, doing crossword puzzles, and most importantly spending time with his family. Once at a family reunion he hugged his wife with a smile on his face and said "We caused all this mess."

Claud is survived by his brother Dan (Sherry) Lovitt of Littleton, CO; his children - Loren (Rene) Lovitt of Pine Bluffs, WY; Stephen Lovitt of Burns, WY; William Lovitt of Monroe, NE; Brian (Tammy) Lovitt of Columbus, NE; Shanna (Mike) Smith of Lingle, WY; Shawn Lovitt of Scottsbluff NE; Justin (Kristin) Lovitt of Howells, NE; Cassandra (Frank) Gregory of Fort Worth, TX; and Kathleen Richards of Lingle, WY; along with 21 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by, his wife Mary Lou, parents Daniel and Grace, two sisters Pat Grady and Jean Wunder, grandson Tylor Patrick, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
