Charles Edward Mills, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska, died June 10, 2025, at Cottonwood Senior Living in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, at 11:00 AM at Gass Haney Funeral Home with  Pastor Ben Jones officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and will continue Monday from 10:00 AM until service time, all at Gass Haney Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be broadcast live on the Gass Haney Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057043736890

Charles Edward Mills was born on September 20, 1940, to Lois and Nadine (Eakles) Mills in Olathe, Kansas.  Charles grew up in Olathe, Kansas and graduated from Olathe Senior High School.

On October 2, 1960, Charles was united in marriage to Betty Jo Mayes in Olathe, Kansas.  To this union two children were born, Myrna "Beth" Schneider, and Charles "Brandon" Mills.  Charles worked as a Coca Cola delivery driver, and retired as a material purchaser for Burns and McDonnell Engineering.

Charles and Betty Jo enjoyed traveling the country in their RV.  They spent eleven years living in their RV and traveling the country.  They adopted the motto, "Home is where you park it".  Charles enjoyed spending time with his mother-in-law, taking her fishing, and taking her and her friends to sporting events, such as Kansas City Royals baseball games.  He enjoyed working on carpentry projects and stained-glass windows.  Charles was a true people person and loved to talk, and was quite the jokester.  If Charles disappeared for awhile while he and Betty Jo were living at Real Life, Betty Jo just assumed "he probably found someone to talk to".

Grandchildren – Jessica (Brett) Alswager, Robert (Sarah) Schneider, Rachel (Fiance' Blake Paris) Schneider, Chase Mills
Great Grandchildren – Brenden Alswager, Maci Schneider, Kylie Alswager, Sawyer Alswager, Alli Schneider, and Kati Schneider
Sister – Margie Abell
