Carlene Mindrup, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held 1:30 PM on Friday, September 29, at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and will continue Friday, from 12:30 PM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 1:15 PM on Friday, at the church. Private family  burial will be in Tilden, Nebraska.  In lieu of flowers, memorial are suggested as those of family choice.

Carlene was born August 7, 1947, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Carl and Laurene (Eggers) Schulz.  She attended Christ Lutheran School in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk High School.  Carlene was united in marriage to Kenny Ewald in 1967.  To this union, two children were born – Todd and Stacy.  On March 27, 1976, Carlene married Ron Mindrup in Wichita Falls, Texas.  The couple lived in Texas and LaVista, Nebraska, before settling in Schuyler to raise their children.

Carlene and Ron were managers for Motel 6 and moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, before making their home in Columbus.  Carlene worked as a cosmetologist for 27 years, worked at Walmart for 10 years and most recently for Village Apartments.  Carlene was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband, kids, and grandkids at the lake.  Carlene loved meeting friends for coffee or lunch, going to the casino with her girlfriends, birdwatching, and watching westerns and game shows on tv.
