Bonnie Lea Schroeder, 95, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at her home in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 10:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Rev. Caitlin Bentzinger officiating.  Family interment will be in Grand Island City Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM  until service time at the church.  Memorials are suggested as those of the donor or family choice.

Bonnie was born Devonna Lea King, and went by Bonnie all of her life.  She was born March 26, 1931, in Grand Island to Ned O. and Eva L (George) King.  She attending Grand Island School and on September 2, 1947, was united in marriage to Lavern Schroeder in Grand Island.  They moved to Columbus in 1960 where over the years Bonnie worked for Dale Electonics, Tempo, PAMIDA, and finally for the Columbus Public Schools in the cafeteria.  The grandkids could tell when Grandma was cooking because the food tasted better.  

Lavern and Bonnie celebrated 67 years of marriage.  They enjoyed years of fishing, hunting, Nebraska football, and traveling together with family and friends.  Bonnie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, her flower gardens, but nothing beat spending time with and going on trips with her grandchildren.

Grandchildren - Shane (Pei Pei) Cronin, Corey (Christie) Cronin, Jamie (Sherry) Cronin, Lisa Jenison, Bryce "Archie" (Lynn) Kneeland III, Jeremy (Sunni) Kneeland, Aubrey Kneeland, Sarah Schroeder, Matthew Schroeder, and Gregory (Katherin) Schroeder
