Bonnie Christensen, 62 of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Friday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Friday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are those of family choice.

Bonnie was born March 30, 1949, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Robert and Geraldine "Gerry" (Jenny) Iverson and grew up in Leigh, Nebraska, where she graduated from Leigh High School in 1967. Bonnie was united in marriage to Larry Christensen on July 21, 1973, at St. John's Lutheran, Shell Creek. Prior to her marriage, Bonnie worked at both St. Mary's Hospital and Behlen's Hospital. Bonnie was a stay at home mom after the children were born, but being a "stay at home mom" meant you were involved in your children's activities. For 28 years Bonnie worked with the Girls Scouts as a leader, volunteer, camp organizer, and support person. For the past 18 years Bonnie has been working at the Columbus YMCA as a pre-school teacher, a job which she loved and enjoyed. Her love for children continued to be shown on Sunday mornings where you would find her teaching Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church.
