Beverly Boyd, 86, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her home in Genoa.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 10:00 AM, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa with Pastor Hillary Christensen officiating.  Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Genoa.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time, all at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Senior Center or Augustana Lutheran Church.

Bev was born March 11, 1938, in Home, Kansas, to Clarence and Esther (Johannes) Blocker.  She attended school until the 5th grade at Marysville, Kansas, when the family moved to Columbus, Nebraska, where her father was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.  Bev confirmed her Christian faith through confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.

Bev graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1956.  She worked at Council Oaks Grocery until her marriage to Alfred Boyd on August 29, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church.  The couple moved to Genoa, Nebraska, where they made their home.  Bev worked for Glenn Rodehorst Attorney and Gil's Conoco as a bookkeeper.  She then turned her attention to raising her three children – Cynthia Sue, Steven, and Randy.

After moving back to Columbus where Bev worked for the Columbus Telegram, Behlens, BD Medical, and HeadStart.  After Alfred retired from Loup Power, the family moved back to an acreage in Genoa.  After the children were raised, Bev began helping the elderly in their homes.  She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she quilted and belonged to WELCA, and a member of the local American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center where she had served on the board.
