On March 29, 2024, God called one of His faithful servants home to Himself in heaven when Ardeth Mae Loseke left this life while living at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus with Rev. William Voelker officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.  There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, plants, stones, etc., memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Cornerstone Fellowship Hall, family or donor's choice. The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff that took such good care of Ardeth.

Ardeth Mae Loseke was born November 2, 1935, in Chambers, Nebraska, to Lyle and Vera (Lenz) Walter.  She was baptized on November 17, 1935, and reaffirmed her Christian faith through confirmation on June 5, 1939, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chambers.  Ardeth graduated from Chambers High School in 1953, and attended Concordia Teachers College for three months to get her teaching certificate.

Ardeth began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Milford, Nebraska, before going to Neligh to teach the following year.  After three years of public teaching, Ardeth moved to Jackson, Wisconsin, where she taught for three years at Trinity Lutheran School.  Her final move was to Christ Lutheran School, rural Columbus, where she taught for one year.  It was here at Christ Lutheran that she met the love of her life, Wayne Loseke and the two were united in marriage on September 22, 1962, at Christ Lutheran Church.  She continued to substitute teach for surrounding area schools for the next few years, but her main career changed, and she became a devoted wife and mother.   Ardeth was not only a housewife, but a working partner with Wayne on the farm.  She loved to take care of her yard and garden, mowing, burning the trash, taking the grandchildren out into the trees to start a fire and have a "weenie roast".

Ardeth was a Nebraska sports fan and enjoyed watching the Husker Volleyball team.  She was a member of the "Ladie's Slipper" extension club and assisted with 4-H.  Ardeth was devoted to her church and was active in the Ladies Aid, LWML, choir, taught Sunday School, and a member of Christian Growth.  Ardeth's faith and devotion to scripture was an important part of her life and she was a prayer warrior for her family.
