Anna Mae Hamling, 93, of Humphrey, Nebraska, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Cottonwood Senior Living in Columbus, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 AM, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM until service time, at the church. Interment will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Humphrey Fire and Rescue Unit.
Anna Mae Hamling was born on February 19, 1932 near Washington, Kansas to Henry and Louise (Goeckel) Foltz. When she was 7 years old, they moved to Nebraska, where she attended St. Mary's School near Humphrey and graduated from St. Francis High School. On August 22, 1950 she married Donald Hamling, and they resided on his parents' farm south of Creston until 1980 when they moved into Humphrey. She worked at BD Medical and later at Klub 81. They enjoyed playing cards, dancing, going camping and fishing in South Dakota with friends. She also enjoyed being around her family playing cards, games and gardening. Many fun trips were enjoyed with the family over the years. After her husband's passing, Anna Mae loved going on various outings with her girlfriends. Her faith was important to her and she was a faithful member of St. Francis Church.
Don and Anna Mae had 8 children: Kathy (Dan) Kruse of Columbus, Larry (Sharlene) Hamling of Creston, Patti Sliva, Jane (Dick) Kastl, Mary (Pat) Preister and Tim (Arlene) Hamling all of Humphrey, Diane (Mike) Henry of Fulton, Missouri and Shirley Hamling (deceased). She has 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Elverine Pillen, Bonnie Bogus, Lois (Mark) Daniels and brother Norbert (Dianne) Foltz.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Louise Foltz, husband Don Hamling, infant daughter Shirley Hamling, son-in-law Tom Sliva, brothers-in-law Art Pillen, Ron Bogus, Jerry Sliva and sister Maxine Sliva.
What a beautiful life story ending on the same date as her husband 18 years ago.
