Alvin Joseph Kuta was born on July 20, 1929, in Humphrey, to Thomas and Mary (Zoucha) Kuta. He attended elementary school at St. Michael's School in Tarnov and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1947. In1950, Alvin entered the United States Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1954. He met the love of his life, Agnes Martischang, at a dance in Humphrey. Much of their courtship was through letters because he was in the service. Alvin and Agnes were married at Holy Family Church in Lindsay, Nebraska on June 29, 1954. The first few months of their marriage they lived in Long Beach, California. After his discharge, they returned to the St. Mary's and Tarnov areas to farm and raise their family. They moved to Humphrey in 1995. Alvin moved to the Norfolk Veterans' Home in Norfolk in March of 2022.
Alvin enjoyed bowling, Cardinals baseball, and all things Huskers and Flyers sports. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, reading Western books, and dancing, especially polkas. He could talk to anybody and loved telling stories and jokes. Alvin was an active parishioner at St. Michael's and St. Francis Catholic Churches.
