Alice Mae Horak, 90, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Monday, May 27, 2024, at the Clarkson Community Care Center.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31 at 2:00 PM, at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson with Pastor Michele Monroe-Clark officiating.  Interment will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Friday from 12:30 PM until service time at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the church.

Alice Mae Horak was born May 3, 1934, in Stanton County, Nebraska, to Henry and Alice (Herling) Balzer, Sr.   She grew up in Stanton County and graduated from Clarkson High School in 1951.  On April 19, 1953, Alice was united in marriage to Adrian Horak.  They moved from the farm into Clarkson in 1960.  Alice was a fantastic seamstress, sewing the majority of the kids clothes, some even into adulthood.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing counted-cross-stitch, making sure that all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends all received something that she had made.

Alice was a faithful member of New Zion Presbyterian Church where she was active in the women's group for over 50 years, was an elder of the church, and served on many church boards and various organizations.  She was awarded the "Caring For Kids" award, the Askarben Good Neighbor award, and did story time at the library for 23 years.  Alice was extremely proud of her children and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.

Great Grandchildren - Joanna and Graycen, and Elizabeth
Sister - Vera Karel of Lincoln, NE
Sister-in-law - Dorothy (Dean) Tuma of Omaha, NE
Sister-in-law - Janet Horak of Port Charlotte, FL
