Alice Brandt, 96, of Madison, Nebraska, died Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the Countryside Home in Madison. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church (14 North), rural Columbus with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment for Alice and her husband Harold (who died October 8, 2004) will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church. Alice was born June 1, 1913, in Leigh, Nebraska, to Gerhard and Marie (Schlueter) Reins. She was baptized on June 22, 1913, at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh. She attended Zion Lutheran School through the eighth grade. Alice was confirmed at Zion Lutheran on May 22, 1927. She lived in the Creston, Humphrey, and Columbus area all of her life. Alice was united in marriage to Harold L. Brandt on July 28, 1936, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clarinda, Iowa. The Brandt's had two children, Kenneth and Norene. She was a 4-H Leader, Sunday School teacher, member of Ladies Aid, belonged to an extension club, attended Bible Class, and loved to sew.
