William E. Best, 87, of Las
Vegas, Nevada, died December 2, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00
PM Wednesday, December 9, at the Miller Funeral Home in
Clarkson. Rev. Cathy Allen will officiate the service and
burial will be at Clarkson National Cemetery. Visitation
will be held on Wednesday from 1 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home.
- Bill was born June 26, 1922 in
Modale, Iowa to Frank and Doris (Martin) Best. The
family moved to Chadron where he attended school and
graduated from Chadron High School. He also attended
Chadron State College.
- On April 14, 1943, he was united
in marriage to Lillian Hartl in Chadron. Bill was in
the Merchant Marines for 43 years. They made their
home in Texas City, Texas for 30 years. After Bill
retired, they moved to Las Vegas where they have lived for
the last 25 years.
