Erma Schneider, 94, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Countryside Home in Madison, Nebraska. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association. Erma L. Schneider was born September 22, 1913, in rural Creston, Nebraska, to John and Minnie (Jansen) Barrett. She attended school in Creston and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Erma moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois, where she worked for 8 years at Lion Metal and Hot Point. She then moved to Glendale, California, where she married Bill Schneider. After working 24 years at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Erma retired and moved to Sedona, Arizona, and later to Columbus, Nebraska. For the last three and half years, Erma has resided at the Countryside Home in Madison. Erma enjoyed bowling, Nebraska football, and knitting; knitting blankets for all of her great nieces and nephews.
