Betty Reed, 89, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the Columbus Community Hospital. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Federated Church in Columbus with Rev. Dr. Jim Wooten officiating. Interment will be the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorials are to be directed to the Federated Church. Betty Reed was born March 4, 1919, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Frank and Etta (Spalti) Weaver. She married Raymond Reed in 1945 in Lexington, Nebraska. Betty has been an active member of the Columbus community for over 56 years. She was a member of the Federated Church. Betty cherished her family and friends. She will be remembered as a leader and philanthropist in the Columbus community. She will also be remembered for her style, grace and graciousness.
