Leo William Groteluschen was born
August 30, 1924 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to William and Freida
(Wurdeman) Groteluschen. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion
Lutheran Church in Leigh. Leo attended Timber Hill and Zion Lutheran
grade schools, and Leigh High School until the age of 17, when he stayed
home to farm on the family farm after the death of his father. When
his brother Melvin returned from WWII after their fathers death, Leo
entered the US Army and served from April 1944 to December 1946,
stationed in Kobe, Japan for one year.
Leo returned to the family farm
and married Donna M. Andreasen on September 24, 1948 at her parents home
in rural St. Edward, Nebraska. Leo farmed his entire life and
continued to live on the family farm after his retirement. Leo also
worked at Behlen Manufacturing, McMullin Transfer, and Columbus
Steel. He worked for Platte County at the time of the construction
of Hwy 91 that passed by the farm place.
Leo was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church where he had served in several capacities and was a member of the
Lutheran Layman's League. He loved to plant trees, flowers, and

SERVICE FOLDER
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put his arms around you
And whispered "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes
We watched you suffer
And saw you fade away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
Hardworking hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the BEST.
It's lonesome here without you
We miss you more each day
Life doesn't seem the same
Since you've gone away.
When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong
We seem to hear you whisper
"Cheer up and carry on."
Each time we see your picture
You seem to smile and say
"Don't cry, I'm in God's keeping
We'll meet again someday!"
