Lorena Janssen, 85 of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Nebraska.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 15 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Columbus with Rev. John E. Nelson, Jr. and Vicar Mike Stockmeyer officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.  There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the church.

Lorena Marie Janssen was born February 26, 1921 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to Thees and Amelia (Schulte) Janssen.  She was baptized on March 20, 1921 at Christ Lutheran Church.  On May 13, 1934, Lorena reaffirmed her Christian faith through confirmation.  Lorena attended District 77 School and also Christ Lutheran Grade School.

Lorena resided on the family farm until 1947 when she moved to Columbus.  She worked at Becton-Dickinson and retired in 1983 from the Columbus Community Hospital.  She enjoyed baking.  Lorena was a life long member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Nephew - Larry (Marcia) Janssen of Platte Center, NE

Nephew - Roger (Nancy) Gehring of Platte Center, NE

Nephew - Darrell (Pat) Janssen of Columbus, NE

Niece - Linda (Danny) Nichols of Lincoln, NE

Niece - Diane (Darold) Gehring of Platte Center, NE

Nephew - Ron (Pat) Gehring of Afton, MN
