Jean L. Wagner

 

Jean L. Wagner, 86 of Columbus, Nebraska died Friday, September 2, 2005 at her sisters home in Stevensville, Montana.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Timothy White officiating.  Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.  There will be a family prayer service on Thursday at 10:15 AM also at the church.

Jean L. Wagner was born in Tilden, Nebraska on September 11, 1918 to James Benjamin and Cora (Black) Landreth.  She graduated from Tilden High School and worked at Securities Acceptance in Norfolk, Nebraska.

On September 1, 1940, Jean married Carl H. Wagner in Wayne, Nebraska and moved to Columbus in that same year.  She was a housewife and for several years was involved in her children's scout programs and PTA.  In 1958, she accepted a position at Columbus Bank and Trust.  She worked there for 26 years , where she held the positions of  cashier and loan officer.  Jean was involved in the Nebraska Business Women's Association and  for many years has been the secretary for Soroptimists of Columbus. She was also secretary and on the board of the Platte County Historical Museum.  Jean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women in the Word, and Sugar and Spice Club.  She enjoyed flower gardening and collecting precious moments.

Daughter - Carla Leslie of Columbus, NE
Daughter - Karen (Ron) Gumm of Columbus, NE
10 Grandchildren
8 Great Grandchildren
Sister - Erma Madalon of Stevensville, MT
Brother - William Landreth of Camarillo, CA
Sister-in-law - Lorena Wagner of Norfolk, NE
Sister-in-law - Irene Bossert of CA
Several nieces and nephews
