Mary L. Gerbrandt, 58 of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at Beverly Health Care of Columbus. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus with Rev. Mike Neely officiating. There will be no visitation. A luncheon will be immediately following the memorial service. Mary was born August 6, 1946 at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California to Merle and Evelyn (Juve) Johnson. She graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, California. This is where she met her first husband, Walter Blohm. Prior to moving to Nebraska, Mary worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper for Mullen Finance in Glendale. She met Stan Gerbrandt in the late 1970's and the two were married on April 12, 1980. After their marriage, Mary worked with Stan in his Chiropractic practice in Glendale as the business manager until the late 1990's. The moved to Nebraska in 2001. Most recently, Mary had worked with her son, Steve Blohm at Nied's Meats which Steve owns. Mary's passions were her family and reading. She loved to read books of all types, however, her favorite was a good mystery.
