Florence "Bobo" M. Maier
Florence "Bobo" M. Maier, 83, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare Center, Columbus, Nebraska. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at the Federated Church in Columbus, with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM, Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Public Library or the Columbus Senior Center. Florence was born December 1, 1917 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William & Grace (Walker) Doggett. She graduated from Lincoln High in Lincoln, Nebraska. She moved to California where she attended Business College. While in California she worked for Selznik Studio's during the making of "Gone With The Wind" . During the making of this film, Florence was asked to
crochet a shaw which was worn by the actress who played Melanie in the movie. She was also an extra in the train yard scene in "Gone With The Wind". Upon returning to the
Midwest, she married Louis (Bob) Maier on November 23, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a secretary for Jack Byrnes Insurance Company in Columbus for many years. In 1970, she joined the Columbus Police Department as the Communications Operator. She retired from the police department in 1985.
