Vernon Hellbusch, 65 of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Services are Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Roland A. Jank officiating.  Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Columbus, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Vernon D. Hellbusch was born May 21, 1935 in Columbus, Nebraska to Arthur C. and Elsa (Osten) Hellbusch. He attended St. John's Lutheran Grade School, Creston and Seward High Schools. Vernon attended Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska from 1953 - 1957, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois from 1961 - 1965 and Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota from 1985 - 1986. Vernon lived in New Jersey, California, Colorado and Missouri, before moving to Columbus in 1997 due to illness. Throughout his career, he worked as a Director of Christian Outreach, as a Parish Administrator, Director of Christian Education, Assistant Principal, Day Care Administrator and as a teacher. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Son - Michael Hellbusch
Special Friend -  Delores Betz  - Colonia, NJ
