- Lyle B. McComb, 84, of St. Edward, Nebraska, formerly of
Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at the Cloverlodge
Care Center in St. Edward.
-
- Memorial Services will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul Rowoldt officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Military honors by American Legion Hartman Post 84.
There will be no visitation.

Lyle B. McComb was born June 28, 1916 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Frank and Nannie (Condreay) McComb. He graduated from St. Edward High School in 1934. He served in the Army during World War II from April 10, 1941 to October 7, 1945. He was a tank commander with the 803rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and served in the European Theater. Lyle married Leona Christensen on October 30, 1946 in Washington, Kansas, they moved to Columbus from St. Edward in 1952. |

He was a truck driver for Werner Trucking in St. Edward and then later for Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus. He worked for Person's Sport Shop for a short time, then worked as a custodian at
Becton-Dickinson for 13 years, retiring in 1981.

Son: Steven McComb - Columbus, NE
Brother: Forrest McComb - Fairview, IL
Sister: Reva McComb - Columbus, NE
Grandson: Jason Hopkins - Tucson, AZ
Grandson: Adam Hopkins - Lincoln, NE
Grandson: Shaun McComb - Columbus, NE
Granddaughter: Melinda Upthagrove - Columbus, NE
Grandson: Brandon McComb - San Diego, CA
Lyle was preceded in death by:
Parents: Frank and Nannie (Condreay) McComb
Wife: Leona (Christensen) McComb on October 2, 1997
Brother: Lloyd McComb
