Jessica Hammond, 35, of Marcus, Iowa, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after a lengthy battle with Juvenile Diabetes.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, at 10:30 AM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, Nebraska, with Brother Pat Kelly officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM with a family prayer service at 10:15 AM, all at the funeral home.  Private family interment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Jessica Leigh Hammond was born December 16, 1972, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Michael and Phyllis (Crosier) Case.  She attended grade school in Columbus before moving to  North Platte, Nebraska, in 1982.  In 1985, the family moved back to Columbus.  On July 6, 1992, Jessica was united in marriage to Tom Hammond in Columbus.  The couple lived in Platte Center, Nebraska, until 2001 when they moved to Wakefield, Nebraska. In 2004 they moved to Marcus, Iowa, where they were currently living. 

While living in the Columbus area, Jessica worked at Taco-Johns for many years.  She attended Western Iowa Tech., in Sioux City, Iowa, where she received her medical records training.  Jessica was currently working as a Medical Records Specialist at the Orange City Health Clinic, Orange City, Iowa.  Jessica was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.  Jessica enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, collecting items related to wolves, and especially loved her time with her children and family.

Brother - Justin Case of Boise, ID

Father and Mother-in-law - Tom and Patty Hammond of Columbus, NE

Sister-in-law - Sue Gilsdorf of Humphrey, NE

Grandfather - Glen Crosier of North Platte, NE
